2024-25 Championships
Club Triples
Well a great turn out for the triples of 30 players. Leeming BC was our location. As usual the pop stick draw took place with nominated Skippers, 2nds and leads.
Teams were
Phil Dobie, Mark Belcher, Darryl Fielder
2. Wayne Olive, Kerry Hutchinson, Kerry Carey
3. Tony Kay, Garry Rowlinson, Harvey Larson
4. Bob Bandy, Julie Fielder, Trev Evans
5. Alan Booth, Peter Rogalski, Jenni Rogalski
6. Corny, Leon Smith, Ralph Bailey
7. Mike Carey, Wayne Molloy, Tanya Belcher
8. Joe Rollnik, Ron Hutchinson, Michael Humphrey
9. Dave Hitchman, Scotty Bermingham, Lesley York
10.Michael Taylor, Rob Bellis, Bill Little
Unfortunately due to the number of teams the first 4 teams had to play an alignment round. In what was a great game Wayne snuck over on Phil. In the other Tony's team were just too strong for Bobs.
In the following rounds Tony beat Wayne to make the semi final of the major, and Phil was too strong for Bobs trio but only by a shot, to make the plate semi final.
Corns team tried against Boothy's trio and came up short were Jenni was on fire and if she wasn't the other two usually were.
Mike and Joe had a terrific game and the scores were only settled on an extra end with Joe sneaking over.
Same can be said for the final game were Dave played Mick s team and again an extra decided the result with Dave just getting over Mick.
Major Semi's and Final
Tony's trio took on the Rogalski clan and Boothy and in a game were some tremendous shots were played the Boothy group just snuck over.
Dave decided to break a fetlock and had to be substituted with Arthur Barlett. Scotty should have looked at the previous form of championships and picked someone who was playing in their first year, as they always seem to get the bacon. In a game of toing and froing the Joe trio got the better to make the final.
The final was a very good game with some telling bowls from both sides. Joe's consistent draw and slight over shots were working this evening. Jenni chucked a couple of wrong bias's down( Thanks said Legacy). But in the end the champions of the triples were Joe, Ron and Michael and runners up Scotty, Arthur and Lesley.
Plate Semi's and Final
We all know that the triples plate is where the real action is. In the first semi Corny took on Phil. Some great leading from Darryl was the difference in the end as this kept the pressure on, Mark and Phil played some telling bowls too and they were too strong for the corny trio.
The battle of the Micks or Mikes was the other semi final. A good game was had but Mick Taylors team too strong.
The final was a very tight game with only 5 multiples (2's) being scored and the rest all singles. It was 9 all on the 13th end and Phils team scored two singles on the final two ends to win.
Congrats to Phil Dobie, Mark Belcher and Darryl Fielder and unlucky to Mick Taylor, Rob Bellis and Bill Little
Singles Finals
MAJOR SEMI FINAL
Tony Kay def Bob Bandy 22-7
Tony got off to a flyer to establish a double digit lead after 7 ends before Bob fought back winning 5 1 shot ends in a row. Tony then steadied and ended up with a very solid victory to earn a spot in the final.
Well done to Bob for making the Semi.
Paul Walker def Scott Bermingham
Paul was outstanding in this one. After battling work and traffic delays to even get to the starting line, Paul did not give yours truly a chance to get into the match, bowling end after end of consistent close bowls. No one likes losing 21-2 but when your mate/opponent is putting on a show - all you do is appreciate the opportunity to be out there.
MAJOR FINAL
Tony Kay defeated Paul Walker 26-23
Wow. I am still trying to get my head around how good this match was. Like the plate final, played in warm and often very windy conditions, each player won 16 ends with nearly all of them involving touchers, shot changes and/or near misses. After Tony won the first end, Paul settled into a good groove and lead 6-2 in the early going, Tony fought back and both players traded 1 shot pick ups for the next 7 ends before Tony grabbed a couple of 3’s to take the lead back at 15-14. It was drama all the way from here with Tony going on a mini run to lead 19-14 and then 23-17 before Paul dragged himself back into the match with a great 4 shot pick up to level the scores at 23 all. An amazing last 2 ends saw epic close bowls form both players with Tony grabbing 1 shot and then nailing some early close ones on the last end that Paul just couldn’t beat. It really was one of the best singles games I have had the pleasure of watching. A fantastic win to Tony and a courageous effort by Paul to fight all the way.
Well done on making the final Paul and congratulations Tony on what I believe is your first WAPBC Major Singles Title.
PLATE SEMI FINAL:
Mick Taylor def Wayne Molloy 21 – 6.
Close in the early going but Mick went on a run after end four to establish a handy lead and then finished strongly to claim a spot in the final.
Arthur Bartlett def Mike Carey 21-20
An awesome match saw Arthur play a cracking last bowl to remove Mike’s shot bowl to claim victory. The biggest margin during the game was four shots and the lead changed 7 times before the nail biting last end.
Well done to Wayne and Mike for making the semi’s.
PLATE FINAL
Mick Taylor 22 def Arthur Bartlett 19
A terrific match saw Mick establish an early lead and after 11 ends lead 9-3. Arthur fought back well after this and with both players taking it in turns to win an end and some late evening windy conditions, Arthur eventually drew level at 19 all. Mick then drew three bowls close to and just in front of the Jack and Arthur was unable to change the head and Mick held out for a memorable win. Both players were awesome in a great match.
Well done for making the final Arthur and congratulations on your win Mick and finishing plate runner up last year.

Pairs Semi and Final October 8 Innaloo BC
After a fantastic week in the preliminary rounds, where it was great to see a green full of the yellow (gold) and black.
Major
The first semi final saw the fours champ Keith Guelfi with John Mawson take on Corny and Leon Smith. A close game was had and the King had an answer to everything that Corny and Leon could throw at them.
The other semi final saw Arthur Bartlett and Dylan Rowlinson take on Rob Bellis and Trevor Evans and was a great game as well. Both leads had a great tussle, when needed Arthur bowled some huge saving bowls to get the win over Rob.
The FINAL: Keith Guelfi / John Mawson v Dylan Rowlinson/ Arthur Bartlett.
What a great final this turned out to be, there was a lot of pressure on Dylan's shoulders as his Nan had won the fours in her first final so he had to try keep the tradition going.
The final was a tight contest, with Keith and John making a late surge to catch Dylan and Arthur. The last end came and Keith needed 3 to draw the game. After the leads John was narrowly in front, Keith then made it three. Arthur with his second bowl had a great line and was just a little heavy. The score was still 3 with Arthurs last bowl to come, the hush around the ground, Darren was live streamed to watch Dylan's last end. Arthur let his bowl go and again had a great line the only question was the weight, it looked good out of the hand. His bowls was heading right for Keith's shot bowl, it made slight contact and rolled Keith twice to stay for shot, a massive "GOOOOOOOOOOOOD" was heard from the crowd.
Well done to our champs Dylan Rowlinson and Arthur Bartlett and a gallant effort to Keith Guelfi and John Mawson.
Plate
First semi saw Bob Bandy and Lina Evans take on Garry Rowlinson and Julie Fielder with a great performance by Lina and Bob that had the answers over Garry and Julie
Second Semi final saw Wayne Olive and Rick Scupham take on Dave Hitchman and Tony Redden. Tony lead superb and Dave either complimented Tony's great work or took the shot from Wayne and Rick on most ends.
The Plate Final: Dave Hitchman / Tony Redden v Bob Bandy / Lina Evans
Well this was going to be a great match as well with two first time finalists Tony and Lina, Dave last years pairs champion and Bob one of our most decorated bowlers. The game was neck and neck for most of it. Bob and Lina then got a few shots up and as much as Tony and Dave tried to cut them back they just missed shots by inches.
Well done to the Plate Champs Bob Bandy and Lina Evans and commiserations to runners up Dave Hitchman and Tony Redden
Pairs Night 1 October 1 Innaloo BC
An excellent night of pairs bowls at Innaloo last night. We had 16 teams of pairs battle it out with several games requiring an extra end and a couple being decided on the last end. There was some terrific bowls and as always at our events, lots of fun and good sportsmanship across the green.

Club Fours August 20 and 27 at Innaloo Bowling Club
We had a reasonable turnout with 28 players which made 7 teams so one team had the dreaded bye. The weather outside in week one was horrendous. Two games were played in both the plate and major to get our finalists.
In the major Corn's team got the better of Wayne Olives to progress to the final. Keith Guelfi had the bye and played Tony Kays team and won through.
MAJOR
In the final, Keiths team got off to a great start and were leading 10-2 early as Corns team struggled. Everytime Corns team had a chance of getting a number Keith drew a bomb to reduce the count. A little fight back occurred and Corns team needed a 3 on the last end to tie the game, they were holding 3 with Keith having the last bowl. He played a great bowl with perfect weight that just rested ( i say wicked) on our closest bowl to claim the shot and the game. Congrats to our first winners of the year, Keith Guelfi, Ty Vandetogt, Tanya Belcher (sub for Jenni Rogalski) and Tony Redden a great team effort. Runners up Corny, Wayne Molloy, Carolyn Little and Leslie York.
PLATE
In the plate final saw Joe against Bob, again the game was very tight early on and then Joes team managed to gain the momentum. Joe keeps his progression towards the consistency...again.
Plate Winners Joe Rollnik, Peter Rogalski, Ralph Bailey and Kerry Rowlinson (sub for Shonky)
Plate Runners Up Bob Bandy, Garry Rowlinson, Bill Little and Mark Belcher.
It appears the trend continues this year with First year players winning the events, Kerry and Tanya. Mark B also made a final in his first event.
Unfortunately for Garry, he had Kerry crowing all the way home.........
