2021 News

2021 CLUB SINGLES CHAMPION

Congratulations to Wayne Olive who won the Club Singles on Tuesday night in a great game against Robbie Bellis.  The standard of the game was very high considering the famous Leeming wind blowing quite strongly.  Wayne's win has extra credit because he is not playing pennants this year so has had limited preparation and it is his first Singles title in bowls.  Well done.

The Plate winner was Paul Walker who played very strongly against Kerry Hutchinson who remained competitive throughout the game.

Thanks to Corny for the vast array of food on hand for our Christmas windup.  It was great to see so many members attending and enjoying the game and the commeraderie after.

Unfortunately at this time I have no photos of the finalists but hopefully can get a couple shortly and post them.

2021 CLUB PAIRS RESULTS

Congratulations to Karl Vandersluys and Leon Smith on winning the Club Pairs Championship at Innaloo last night by 1 shot defeating a gallant Bob Bandy and Harvey Larson in a High quality game of bowls. That’s back to back pairs titles to Sludgey a great effort.

Well done to Phil Dobie and Dave Vinicombe on winning the plate final in another great game of bowls over Joe Rollnik and Kerry Hutchinson.

Committee Vs Politicians

Our annual game against the pollies was played on Friday.  Another great day with beautiful food, nice wine and a game of bowls at South Perth.

Once again the Police had a big win but the pollies are restocking and will be stronger next year. Our winning rink was Karl Vandersluys, Wayne Olive, Kiera Redden and Gary Rowlinson.

Check the photo section for some snaps of the day.

Police VS South Perth

The first of our Club games was against South Perth.  Due to the numbers of South Perth players wanting a game, the organisers invited the RSL to play against the members not playing the Police team, a great idea which made it a great social gathering.

It was a great night, weather and food wise, but not so good on the greens. Hamburgers were ready on our arrival, there was plenty and they tasted great.  A big thanks to Perry who cooked them and the onions.

The evening was not too cold and the rain held off so the bowls were playing in good conditions and in good spirit. The South Perth players were very strong with a number of Premier players in their ranks, so in the end proved too strong for the Police winning on 5 rinks to our 1.  Our winning rink was Wayne Olive, Ryan Havercroft (South Perth), Mal Kinnaird and Derry Barber, a team obviously stacked by Wayne who was filling in for our injured Captain Darren. Two of our rinks had close losses, by one and two so it was a great effort.  A big welcome to three new members had their first games with the club, Leon Smith, Dave Hitchman and Jimmy Little.

Our next game is against Thornlie on Tuesday night.  If you haven't done so get you names on the team app or to Darren ASAP so he can be organised.

I have updated the App with our fixture for the whole season except our last two Club Championship events. I am awaiting confirmation of the location where the events will be played.

Our Singles will be played on the 30th of November and the 7th and 14th of December.

Our Club triples will be played on the 1st and 8th of February.

I will add these events to the App once I have location confirmation.

So you can lock in games. As per last year I expect we will out number our opposition most weeks. If that is the case I will ask for people stand aside.

As mentioned at the AGM please don’t add or delete your name from a game on the day of a game without contacting me as I confirm numbers with who we are playing the day prior to the game.

Any problems please don’t hesitate to contact me on 0407019010.

Cheers,

Rowlo
